COMPETITION OBEDIENCE CLASSES

Foundations
This class builds on basic obedience skills to prepare dogs and handlers for competitive obedience trials. These classes teach the precise movements, handling skills, and focus required for higher-level exercises.

Novice
This class prepares dogs and handlers for heeling on and off-leash, recalls, and stands for examination. This class focuses on sharpening foundational skills to be able to perform more advanced skills and prepare teams for earning the CD title.

Open
This class will prepare dogs for more advanced exercises, including drop on recall, retrieves, command discrimination, and the broad jump. This class prepares teams to earn the CDX title.

Teaching Utility
This class will teach dogs and handlers the foundation pieces of all the Utility exercises. The class will focus on breaking the exercises down into teachable pieces to ensure proper understanding to the dog. *Students must have a set of articles, a set of gloves, and a set of tins (instructions will be sent upon registration) prior to the first day of class.

UDX
The UDX class covers all the exercises in both the Open class and the Utility class. This class is appropriate for dogs who have foundational skills in all of these exercises. The class will help prepare dogs for earning the UDX title.

FOUNDATION/PUPPY/SPORT CLASSES

Competition Puppy
This class is for puppies 8 weeks to a year who are striving for competition obedience careers! Puppies will be introduced to many beginning foundation pieces such as hand touch, heeling, engagement, retrieving, go outs, etc.

Advanced Heeling Skills
Communication is key to training your dog. Topics to be covered include: Using body language cues that are clear to your dog, keeping your dog's focus, understanding what heel position means for both you and your dog, evaluating if you are aiding your dog in training to the point of lack of performance in the ring, and use of food and toys in training. Heeling will be broken down into sections. We will also work on transitioning to off leash heeling for competition. The class is designed to make you think.

Engagement & Tricks
Does your dog want to be with you? Is your dog waiting to do the next thing with you? Ignoring the environment and choosing you? This class focuses on developing engagement between dog and handler using tricks and games as well as getting it on silence. Engagement is often the missing piece between teams and is the most important skill needed for competition obedience. This class is appropriate for all levels.

Heeling Concepts
This class will focus on all the concepts of heeling. Position in stationary, maintaining position in motion, focal point, engagement, rhythm and stride, turns, pace changes, handling (footwork and body position).

Improving Your Ring Performance
This class will cover all of the nuances you need to know to be successful in the ring. Topics covered; proper warm ups, developing a training plan, staying connected with your dog from crate to gate, proper use of markers, developing variable reinforcement, engagement, the use of games that transfer into the ring, off leash skills, transitions and ring entrances, and more! This class is suitable for handlers training for Novice to OTCH.

RALLY CLASSES

Introduction to Rally
This class is for handlers and dogs that are new to the sport of Rally, and will cover the basic concepts and skills for Rally Novice level. We will be focusing on training the skills, learning individual signs, preparing to trial in Rally, and learning to navigate a full Novice level course. Dogs will be worked on leash at all times. Prerequisite for this class is CGC or equivalent training. Dog must know how to sit, stand, down, come when called, and walk on a loose leash.

Rally
(All Levels)
This class is for handlers and dogs that are already training and showing in Rally, and will cover Rally courses across all levels. We will be focusing on training more advanced skills, learning individual signs, advanced techniques on course handling, and running courses at all levels. Prerequisites for the class: CGC or equivalent skill set, and currently training and showing in Rally. All dogs should be able to work on a loose lead or off lead.

PET DOG CLASSES

Puppy School
New puppy? We’ve got you covered. This class will cover all the necessities to getting your puppy off on the right paw! House breaking, crate training, leash manners, proper socialization both with dogs and humans will be discussed, sit, down, stay and cooperative care will be introduced so your puppy will succeed with being handled at the vet and groomer. Trouble shooting areas will be discussed such as biting and mouthing, chewing on inappropriate things, handling a puppy around small children, feeding schedules, exercise regimes, and more!

Primary School
For all our Puppy School graduates! This class will take our dogs on the next step of becoming obedience super stars by sharpening all the skills learned in puppy school! Recalls, engagement and attention, sit, down, stand, loose leash heeling, toy play, tricks, jumping, confidence building and more. This class will also introduce foundational competition obedience and rally skills!
Class is suitable for dogs and puppies 6 months or older.

Canine Good Citizen Class (CGC)
The CGC (Canine Good Citizen) class involves both training and preparing your dog to pass a 10-step evaluation that is non-competitive and open to all dogs, regardless of breed. This class places important emphasis on good manners. The test evaluates a dog's ability to behave politely in public, including actions like accepting a friendly stranger, sitting politely for petting, and walking on a loose leash. Upon passing the test, dogs will have earned the AKC CGC title.
Dogs must know basic commands such as sit, down, stay.

SCENT WORK CLASSES

Intro to Nose Work
Canine Nose Work is one of the fastest growing dog sports, it offers a fun and rewarding outlet for dogs of all ages and abilities! This Intro to Scent Work class is perfect for owners who are curious about the sport or simply want to enjoy a new activity with their dog. It provides an engaging and enriching challenge while building foundational skills. The class focuses on basic problem solving and simple search exercises, introduces target odors, and is ideal for dogs with little to no prior Scent Work training.
