PET CLASSES

IMG_8861.jpeg
CGC Prep

The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Prep Class is a practical, real-world manners course that helps you and your dog build the skills that make life easier—calm greetings, loose-leash walking, polite handling, and reliable responses around distractions. The goal is everyday “good dog” behavior you can count on in public and at home. We’ll train toward the AKC’s 10-step Canine Good Citizen test which includes a three minute supervised separation.

On week 6, teams have the option to take the CGC test. Even if you’re not sure you’ll pass, the test is a helpful way to identify exactly what needs more practice—many dogs surprise their people. All breeds are welcome, including mixed breeds, and dogs who pass are eligible to receive an official certificate.

Dogs must have basic commands such as sit, down, stay, and leash walking skills. No reactive dogs will be permitted.
